Given our momentum, it may seem like full equality for the LGBT community is inevitable, but in the last month, we have seen several reminders that our work is not done.

There are many examples of our work, I’ll highlight three key areas:
1) Advancing LGBT equality at the state level. We must ban the harmful ex-gay conversion therapies and curtail the so-called panic defense for committing crimes against LGBT individuals.
2) Leading the fight for equality nationally. We must pass federal discrimination protections, and we need all members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation to support the federal legislation.
3) Securing equal treatment for all. We are working with faith communities and employers across the state to create inclusive places and welcoming practices.
Equality Illinois is committed to being a strong voice that the LGBT community needs in Illinois. You know well from our national history, passing equal laws is just the beginning of building a society with equal treatment. Equality Illinois will leave no stone unturned in our fight to end discrimination and advance equality for all.
