The Health Care Transparency Act

The Healthcare

SB 1679 & HB 2904
Sen. Omar Aquino & Rep. Dagmara Avelar

We believe that personal health is important and that every person must have all of the information when making decisions about their healthcare. That is why we introduced The Health Care Transparency Act HB 2904/SB 1679.

This bill would require the Department of Public Health to identify reproductive health services, LGBTQ+ health services, and end-of-life care that might be denied for nonmedical reasons in the state. The Department will create a simple form to clearly show which services are available, which are restricted, and which have limitations on referrals.

The Department must post an up-to-date list of health care providers on its website and make these forms accessible to the public. They will also create rules to carry out these tasks and run an educational program to inform the public about how care denials can impact health care access, quality, and vulnerable communities.

The Equality For Every Family Act

SB 2507 & HB 2683
Chief Sponsors: Senate President Don Harmon and State Rep. Tracy Katz Muhl

An Act to Ensure Legal Parentage Equality

At a time when the federal administration is attacking LGBTQ+ families, Illinois laws have not kept pace to provide equality and protection for our state’s diverse families, including LGBTQ+ families. That’s why the Equality for Every Family Act is critical. Sponsored by Senate President Don Harmon and State Rep. Tracy Katz Muhl, the legislation will update our state’s laws to clarify who can be a parent and how to establish parentage. The Equality for Every Family Act is essential for ensuring that all families and children have access to the security of legal parentage, regardless of their birth circumstances.
