2019 Advocacy Day

WHAT: A daylong advocacy event in Springfield; complete with lobbying training, meetings with legislators, a rally, and a visit to the capitol. The event includes a box lunch and concluding reception. Registration includes transportation selection: bus from Chicago or driving on your own, including car pooling and ride sharing.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 15, 2019

WHERE: Illinois State Capitol (401 S. 2nd Street, Springfield) and Wyndham Springfield (700 E Adams St., Springfield)

THE SCHEDULE:

5:45AM – Chicago advocates meet Anthony Galloway, Director of Civic Engagement at McDonald’s at Clark and Monroe in the Chicago Loop.

6:00AM – Bus departs from McDonald’s (23 South Clark Street) across from the Equality Illinois Chicago Loop office to Affinity Community Services  (2850 South Wabash Street)

6:20AM – Bus departs from Affinity Community Services (2850 South Wabash Street) to Hilton Garden Inn Bolingbrook (135 Remington Blvd, Bolingbrook)

7:00AM  – Bus departs Hilton Garden Inn Bolingbrook (135 Remington Blvd, Bolingbrook) to Wyndham Hotel Springfield (700 East Adams Street Springfield)

10:00AM – Chicago/Suburb bus arrives and LGBTQ Advocacy Day Registration opens in Plaza 3 at the Wyndham

10:45AM – 11:15AM – Lobbying training occurs in the Rendezvous Room at the Wyndham

11:15AM – 12:00PM – Lunch Break (Lunch provided with registration)

12-2:30PM – Meetings with legislators and public officials, both individually and in groups, in the Illinois State Capitol.

2:30-3:30PM – Meet at the Wyndham Hotel in the Rendezvous Room for snacks and feedback session.

4:00-5:00PM – LGBTQ  Panel Discussion at the Governor’s Mansion

5:00-8:30PM – LGBTQ Pride Reception at the Governor’s Mansion

7:00PM – Bus departs the Governor’s Mansion to Hilton Garden Inn Bolingbrook

9:30PM – Arrives at Hilton Garden Inn (135 Remington Blvd, Bolingbrook)

10:15PM – Bus arrives at Affinity Community Services (2850 South Wabash Street)

10:30PM – Bus arrives at Equality Illinois at 73 W. Monroe
